Training on Preventing Peer Bullying in Parenting Conducted
A training session was held in collaboration between WALD and the Küçükçekmece Social Service Center to raise parental awareness regarding peer bullying and to strengthen their skills in supporting their children.
A training session titled "Preventing Peer Bullying in Parenting" was conducted through the collaboration of the World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD) and the Küçükçekmece Social Service Center.
During the training program, participants were informed about the definition, types, and underlying causes of peer bullying. It was emphasized that peer bullying can occur in verbal, emotional, social, and digital environments—not just through physical actions—and the importance of early detection of bullying behaviors and knowledge of appropriate intervention methods was highlighted.
The training focused on the role of the parent-child relationship in children's behavioral development. It was noted that family relationships grounded in love, trust, and open communication foster children's self-confidence and problem-solving skills, while also acting as a protective factor against negative peer relationships. Furthermore, it was stated that creating a communication environment where children feel comfortable sharing their problems with their families would contribute to the early detection of bullying incidents.
At the conclusion of the training, participants had the opportunity to share their views and experiences on the subject. Information was provided regarding the roles families can play to ensure children continue their development in safe and supportive social environments. The program ended with a general evaluation and a session addressing participants' questions.
