As WALD, our attorneys who are appointed for Social Protection Project that we conduct with the UNHCR participated in the training program titled “Training on International Protection and Refugee Law” and held by the UNCHR and İstanbul Bar Association Human Rights Center together.

The program started with the presentation of Attorney Can Vodina who is one of the officers of the UNCHR titled “Basic Concepts of International Refugee Law”. Mr. Vodina informed about how the terms of refugee and asylum-seeker emerged and how political migrations especially in Europe progressed and shaped the conditions of the period after the World War II.

After the first presentation, the UNHCR officers and Attorneys of İstanbul Bar Association made presentations about International Protection in Turkey in accordance with Foreigners and International Protection Law, Procedures for International Protection (registration, interview, resolutions and legal proceedings), Deportation Procedures and Examples from Legal Remedies and Implementation in accordance with Foreigners and International Protection Law no 6458, Child Protection Mechanisms and Child Protection Law, and Asylum-Seeker and Refugee Women within the Context of İstanbul Act.  Participants were given certificates at the end of the program.
