A report from the United Nations International Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) suggested that number of refugee children has doubled within the last 10 years and globally 28 million children have had to leave their homes due to conflicts.
In line with migration issues that have arisen in our country in recent years, we as WALD prioritize activities for children to eliminate their unjust suffering, educate them, enhance their social cohesion and raise awareness against peer bullying. A special event was organized for children on the occasion of June 20, World Refugee Day. 5 information desks were established in the events which aimed to enhance social cohesion of children and inform parents with many activities, including “Educational Rights Desk, Health Rights and Psychological Support Desk, Legal Support Desk, Employment (Right to Work) Desk, False Facts About Syrians Desk”. 150 children and 100 adults met in the event which was organized in Leyla Bayram Primary School. While children participated in games in company with experts, parents were informed by experts in information areas.
