Peer bullying is a physical, sexual or verbal violation that children suffer from due to their peers. It is also known as “school violation”. It may be observed in any age group of children. Psychosocial support activities are held in all municipalities within the scope of Social Protection Project that we conduct with the collaboration of the UNHCR in order to raise awareness on peer bullying.
In line with this, 6-week group works titled “Do You Play With Me?” were performed in districts where our Social Protection Desks are located throughout the year in order to prevent peer bullying. Aim of these events hosting refugee students and students from host community was to raise awareness in schools on peer bullying, prevent lack of self-confidence of students, reduce rates of violation in schools, ensure self-confidence and self-respect of students, reduce disciplinary cases and minimize absenteeism, build a respectful and self-confident generation, ensure students from host community and refugee children socialize, protect students from disorders dependent on peer bullying, such as depression, distractedness, anxiety disorder, etc. and improve team spirit, cooperation, compassion and mercy.
