On the occasion of the 36th Foundations Week Events and 26th Anniversary of World Academy for Local Government and Democracy, the conversation on “Foundation Culture and Social Life” held in our Foundation Headquarters located in Sultanahmet on May 10, 2019 drew a great attention from participants. Prof. Dr. Adem Esen, Academic Member of İstanbul University also participated in the program as a speaker.
Starting his speech with definition and processes of the foundation, Prof. Dr. Esen informed participants about foundation culture dating back to Ottoman era, fields of foundation services today, foundations in Turkey and Europe, relations of foundations with local governments and incomes of foundations. Stating that foundations contribute to local democracy and membership in city councils, Mr. Esen emphasized that various exemplary activities were carried out in this field thanks to vision and mission of WALD. Various questions of participants were also answered in the program.
At the end of the conversation, after Mehmet Duman, WALD Chairman of the Executive Board presented his thanks to Prof. Dr. Adem Esen for their precious attendance, Architect Dr. Kadir Topbaş, WALD Chairman of High Advisory Board shared his valuable experiences, then Prof. Dr. Adem Esen was presented a plaque in remembrance of the day.
