It is an undoubted truth that animals have a positive impact on emotional, social, mental and linguistic development of children. Each animal has unique colors, features, shapes and characters. Children love exploring these features and perception, study, memory, analysis, categorization, relationship and problem-solving skills of children improve during this exploration. In addition; emotion, motivation and personality features of children also flourish.
In line with this, a trip was organized to Tepeören Stray Animal Temporary Care Center and Garden Living Area with the collaboration of WALD Sancaktepe Social Protection Desk and Sancaktepe Municipality. Refugee children and children from host community participated on this trip and were informed about vaccination, neutering, medical services and care processes for street animals. After dogs living in garden living area were visited, authorities of İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality Directorate of Veterinary Works informed children on what to do when they see an injured, helpless or sick animal.
