WALD celebrated “February 11 the International Day of Women and Girls in Science” with the contributions of Sancaktepe Municipality Science Center.
The aim of the event that we organized with refugee women and children within the scope of Social Protection Project held with collaboration of the UNHCR is to enable the children to explore scientific tools, learn working methods of these tools and obtain information in experiment workshop. Within the scope of this event, children examined the units of Pythagorean Relation, Anti-Gravity Mirror, Black Hole, Newton Balls, Turbulence Globe, Moving Dinosaurs in company with simultaneous interpretation by the interpreter of WALD Sancaktepe Protection Desk and experiment workshop manager.
After examining celestial bodies in Planetarium chamber with the guidance of Oğuz Uzun, Science Center Astronomer, the participants made an observation with a telescope in the observatory and obtained information about the bodies. At the end of the event during which various experiences were gained, participant families and children were given certificates of participation.
