Hosted by İstanbul Technical University, 6th İstanbul Carbon Summit was held on April 9, 2019 on Carbon Management, Carbon Technologies and Carbon Trade. Mehmet Duman, WALD Chairman of the Executive Board also participated at the summit on behalf of WALD. In addition to representatives of the companies, various representatives of academic world, non-governmental organizations and public sector also participated at the summit which was held with the collaboration of T.R. Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and Sustainable Production and Consumption Association (SPCA).
The 5th summit was held in the last year on “Climate Financing and Fight Against Climate Change in Industry”. This year, participants discussed green economy, fight against climate change of Turkey, carbon management, carbon industry and many other topics. As every year, the award granted under “Low Carbon Heroes and Heroins” was presented to the winners.
Making a speech at the summit, Mehmet Duman, WALD Chairman of the Executive Board stated that it was pleasing to see that a great number of applications was made for awards granted since 2015 and such applications coincided with increasing importance of green economy in Turkey. Mr. Duman also stated that applications were made according to the purposes of raising awareness in carbon management and adopting a sustainable life culture and emphasized that it is important to award technical activities, trainings and awareness-raising activities on carbon reduction.
