An opening meeting was held in Ankara for the "Employment Support Project for Syrians under Temporary Protection and Turkish Citizens," implemented by the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services of the Republic of Turkey and İŞKUR in cooperation with the World Bank. Within the scope of the 30-month project, it is aimed to reach a total of 14,800 individuals—7,400 Syrian refugees and 7,400 Turkish citizens—and support their employment.
In this direction, as WALD, an employment study was conducted in cooperation with İŞKUR at the Pendik Municipality Directorate of Social Support Services, with the participation of WALD, Istanbul Yüzüncü Yıl Hospital, HAKMAR and İŞKUR officials, and 300 Syrians under Temporary Protection seeking employment, with the objectives of increasing the employment of Syrian refugees under temporary protection, supporting them in establishing their own economic cycles, developing their vocational skills, and enhancing their adaptation to the labor market. At the event, for which all announcement activities were carried out by the Pendik Social Protection Desk, information was provided by İŞKUR officials on subjects such as wages, insurance, benefits, and frequently asked questions by refugees. Subsequently, briefings were given by the officials of the collaborating institutions regarding available job opportunities and working conditions at the workplaces.
Following the briefings, individual interviews were conducted for registration purposes with Syrian participants under Temporary Protection who found the working conditions suitable for themselves. Following the interviews and evaluations, İŞKUR registrations of a total of 175 people were completed within two days.
