As WALD, we have been prioritizing women’s development and reflecting this awareness on all our activities since our establishment. In line with this, a six-week “Workshop on Young Girls’ Development” was organized with the collaboration of Sancaktepe Social Protection Desk and Mavi Kalem Association within the scope of Social Protection Project.
Started on April 11, 2019 under the title of “Adolescence”, the workshops then were held on “Gender Roles” and “Physical and Mental Health”. Workshops hosted refugee young girls and informed them about physical properties of women and men body and adolescence processes, roles of women and men in various places and fields such as home, school, street, business, etc., perspectives of the girls to gender roles, and positive and negative impacts of physical and mental health on our lives.
The participants were asked “How can you explain what you learned here to anyone else?” and requested to prepare a poster and explain information and emotions they learned in workshops through these posters. Colorful posters were assessed and interpreted with the young girls at the end of the workshops.
