Within the scope of the "Project for the Improvement of the Health Status of Syrians Under Temporary Protection and Related Services Provided by the Republic of Turkey (SIHHAT Project)," carried out in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey, the Mobile Cancer Screening Unit began providing services in the Beylikdüzü district in October 2019.

At the Cancer Unit—which is part of the program aimed at improving the health status of Syrians under temporary protection in Turkey by strengthening primary and secondary healthcare services provided to them—breast cancer screenings with mammography are performed for women aged 40 to 69, HPV screenings for individuals aged 30 to 65, and colon cancer screenings for individuals aged 50 to 70.

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Turkey as well as worldwide, training sessions and screenings were conducted to raise awareness. Carrying out an effort to ensure that our clients within this age group benefit from this service, the WALD Beylikdüzü Social Protection Desk reached out to our clients and enabled them to utilize this service accompanied by our interpreters. In the operational process of the program, the results of this screening are released within 15 days, and if a result is positive, clients can receive treatment free of charge at Bakırköy Sadi Konuk Hospital. We consider this work to be extremely important for facilitating our clients' access to healthcare services and increasing their awareness, and similar efforts will continue in other districts where we provide social protection services.
