A "Clay Workshop" event was organized for children residing in the Sancaktepe and Pendik districts—consisting of both refugees and the local community—in cooperation with the WALD Sancaktepe Social Protection Desk and the Sancaktepe Municipality Directorate of Social Assistance Affairs.
Organized under the guidance of ceramic artist Ezgi Yasemin, our objective is to enable children to externalize their inner worlds and suppressed emotions in a three-dimensional and tangible way by using a natural material like clay, to utilize their motor skills while doing so, and to unleash their imaginations through the simultaneous engagement of body and mind.
Beginning with the children introducing themselves, the event proceeded with an introduction of clay materials to the children. Accompanied by psychologists and interpreters serving in the Social Protection Project, the children were then asked to create wonderful designs from their imaginative worlds using clay. At the end of this entertaining and relaxing event, the children kept the objects they created with their imaginations as a memento of this enjoyable workshop.
