Culinary culture is one of the ways a society expresses itself and its lifestyle. Food culture brings people together around tables, fosters closeness, allows them to speak a common language, and ensures the blending of cultures. Taking these cultural values into consideration, an event titled "Cook It Yourself, Eat It Yourself" was organized by the WALD Pendik Social Protection Desk in cooperation with Pendik Municipality, bringing together individuals from refugee and local communities.

The purpose of the event is to enable refugee and host families to establish healthy communication together, have fun within a sense of community consciousness, and share their problems, while also bringing them closer together and encouraging sharing in a picnic-like atmosphere. Along with all these, the event was carried out with the aims of ensuring that participants become informed about the services provided by the WALD Social Protection Desk and contributing to the support of social cohesion.

At the end of the event, Yasin Güner, the Head of the Refugee Desk Unit under the Pendik Municipality Directorate of Social Support Services, delivered a welcoming and introductory speech on behalf of the municipality. Starting his speech by expressing gratitude for the services provided by WALD, Güner stated that the municipality's aim is to serve the refugee and local populations without any discrimination, and that it is gratifying to see everyone together here.
