World Sight Day is an awareness day organized annually on the second Thursday of October by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) under the VISION 2020: The Right to Sight initiative to draw attention to the issue of preventable visual impairments. Supported by the World Health Organization (WHO) within the scope of the "VISION 2020" initiative, World Sight Day aims to ensure that everyone has access to comprehensive eye care.
On World Sight Day, Beylikdüzü Municipality, in cooperation with a private eye hospital and an eyewear company, organized a special event for the day. At the event, where children received free eye examinations and eyeglasses were distributed, various shows and entertaining activities were organized to prevent children's hospital phobia. Attended by refugee children with vision problems who are clients of the WALD Beylikdüzü Social Protection Desk, the event included informative sessions on eye health for children and families, as well as a cocktail reception for families waiting for their children.
The families and children from whom we received feedback regarding the event expressed that they were very happy and conveyed their gratitude to Beylikdüzü Municipality and WALD.
