We Open Space for Refugee Entrepreneurship with Our International Entrepreneurship Training…
Concepts such as working from home and freelancing, which are quickly integrated into our lives after Covid-19 appear with the increasing importance of the digital economy and different job opportunities. As WALD, we held the “Training of Trainers on Freelancing for Host Vulnerable Populations and Refugees.” online sessions between 19 – 20 and 26 – 27 October 2022 in cooperation with the Center for Mediterranean Integration (CMI) and Microsoft.
Training program aimed at strengthening capacity in the context of reducing unemployment in vulnerable communities; It was held with the participation of 45 local government representatives from Turkey and Middle East countries (Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine).
Giving the opening speech of the program, CMI Human Capital Senior Programme Manager, Gulia MARCHESINI gave her speech; she emphasized the cooperation with local governments and agencies on the basis of countries, with their work on accelerating digitalization, increasing remote work and education opportunities. WALD Academy Director Hülya ALPER, in her speech addressed to the participants; stating that as WALD, they are pleased with this workshop, which is exhibited as an example of good practice in the field of capacity building in local governments within the framework of cooperation developed with CMI, she stated that they willcontinue their work on creating decent job opportunities and working conditions without slowing down.
International coordination of the program with multinational participation was carried out by WALD Senior Field Officer Can YILMAZ and CMI Program Management Specialist Sara BOUGHEDIR. Program; accompanied by the presentations made by WALD and CMI trainers Muhammed SAKKAR and Sara BOUGHEDIR; is themed Introduction to Freelancing, Self-Motivation and Reflection, Personal Branding, Networking, Platform Management, Project Management, Time Management, Effective Communication, Sales Skills, Pricing, Conflict Resolution, Financial Literacy, Legal Understanding, Your Way Forward ended with sessions.
Participants gained valuable output by discussing the topics in depth, “Establishing Earnings with Freelance Work, taking initiative to achieve goals, accessing networks for good working relations with branding strategies, which platforms to take part in, starting and maintaining projects, transferring information that will facilitate time management, the importance of obtaining information, will help in difficult conditions. sales techniques, important points in pricing, steps in conflict and resolution, the concept of negotiation, financial information, contract examples, different growth paths” in the sessions held throughout the program.
During the four-day training, the participants; along with the interactive group works carried out, they were entitled to become trainers on freelancing, and at the same time, they were entitled to receive an international certificate. At the end of the program, opinions on the efficiency and improvement of training were evaluated.
