WALD AT THE INTERNATIONAL BALKAN SYMPOSIUM

World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD) participated in the International Balkan Symposium themed "Towards the Future in Peace" organized by Ümraniye Municipality. 

The symposium was held online and face-to-face with the contributions of Ümraniye Municipality, Istanbul Commerce University, International Development and Cooperation Association and WALD. Many academicians, researchers, writers, bureaucrats and diplomats attended the meeting as speakers, where subjects such as historical heritage in the Balkans, migration, economy, commercial diplomacy, culture, and foreign policy were discussed.

Mayor İsmet Yıldırım and the guests unveiled the art exhibition themed "18 December International Migrants Day" consisting of the paintings that ranked in the 12th Traditional Painting Competition of Ümraniye Municipality. President Yıldırım visited to the WALD stand and got information about the activities of WALD, and he expressed, "The information given here will shed light on recent history" after reviewed the publications.

During the International Balkan Symposium lasting 3 days in total, emphasis was placed on Balkans importance in regional and global politics. It is aimed to present scientific projections regarding the medium and long-term future of the Balkans with the findings reached at the end of the symposium.
