Visit to Yücel YILMAZ, President of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye

World Academy of Local Government and Democracy Foundation (WALD) Chairman of the Board Dr. The delegation headed by Mehmet Duman and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Turkey Resident Representative Louisa Vinton paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality and Chairman of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey (TBB), Yücel Yılmaz.

Expressing his satisfaction for hosting the visit, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yücel Yılmaz, who was elected the new president of the TBB, underlined that he attaches importance to international cooperation.

WALD Chairman of the Board Dr. Mehmet DUMAN stated that in cooperation with international organizations, a stronger country's economy should be contributed to the highest level by emphasizing that domestic production should always be supported.

Committee visited the Balıkesir Farmer Training Center (BAÇEM), which provides service within the scope of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, and soap producers producing in the region for technical examinations. At the visit detailed information was given on how soap, lotion and cream are produced in the demonstration areas with Medicinal/Aromatic Plants that will contribute to regional development. UNDP Türkiye Resident Representative Louisa Vinton expressed her wish that there will be partnerships and possible collaborations in many different fields under the leadership of WALD.
