District Level Coordination Meeting and Public Personnel Training was held in Bağcılar

The proper and effective use of public resources is among the priority issues for successful migration management. For this reason, the existence of strong communication and coordination between public and non-governmental organizations operating at the local level plays an important role in preventing waste of both resources and time.

From this point of view, WALD works closely with local public institutions, especially district governorships and municipalities, and organizes district coordination meetings in the relevant districts where the general situation of refugees is evaluated. In this context, a district-level coordination meeting was held with the Bağcılar District Governorate on 20 September 2021.

In the event, which was held with the participation of 15 representatives from Bağcılar Municipality and Bağcılar District Governorate, the general situation of foreigners in Bağcılar was discussed. At the event, it was emphasized that unregistered immigrants increase the burden on all institutions. The lack of interpreters speaking Arabic in public institutions, appointment problems at the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management, difficulties faced by unregistered refugees in accessing health services, and the need for Turkish language courses were some of the other problems highlighted.

At the beginning of the meeting, a training titled “False Facts About Refugees” was held. In this training, which was carried out based on the importance of accessing accurate information in the better management of migration, the importance of accessing reliable information on a sensitive issue such as social inclusion was highlighted. Emphasizing the importance of accessing reliable information on every platform, in a time when information distortion and information pollution increase with the proliferation of sources of access to information, WALD will continue to deliver the False Facts About Refugees Trainings.
