UNHCR, Syrian Community Associations Forge Stronger Bonds for Empowerment

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Istanbul Office convened a meeting on Sept. 20 at the Point Hotel Taksim in Istanbul. The purpose of this meeting was to enhance cooperation and improve coordination with Syrian community-led associations.

The meeting was attended by the World Academy of Local Government and Democracy Foundation (WALD) and various organizations dedicated to supporting refugees and Those under temporary production status in Istanbul.

During the meeting, UNHCR partner institutions and Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs) introduced themselves and provided information to the attendees regarding their respective activities.

 

Furthermore, they shared their capacity to reach refugees in Istanbul and their expertise in the field of refugee protection. The event included a specific mapping activity focused on RLOs, with the objective of fostering increased interaction with Syrian community-led associations and establishing two-way communication channels.
