The Children Met at the Summer Feast

Play is universally important to children's development. Playing games expands children's creativity and imagination, supports and enriches their physical, cognitive, emotional development, fine and gross motor development. The child comprehends, adopts and reinforces the concepts of understanding including life roles and human relations such as human relations, helping each other, speaking, acquiring knowledge, gaining habits and experience. 

In this period when children had opportunities for development areas, developed themselves through social activities, and there was no school, on August 25, 2022, as Ümraniye and Sancaktepe Social Protection Desks, we organized a trip to Umraniye Public Garden/Adventure Village with the participation of refugees and children from local people and their parents. 

The Summer Festival-Adventure Village event, the main theme of which is “Children”, provided sports and entertainment together, allowing children to have a pleasant time and learning by having fun. Children were divided into groups according to their age and height in the adventure village and experienced the "Rope Track, Mini Rope Track, Salto Trampoline, Tubby Slide (skateboard), Net Track and Net Trampoline, Climbing Wall, Giant Swing, Zipline and Ziptour" tracks. Children who spent time on the adventure village trails experienced the development of feelings of achievement, overcoming difficulties, confidence and determination, and overcoming negative emotions such as lack of attention and fear of heights.

  Psychologists Gökçe AKBULUT and Songül OĞURLU stated that the social and emotional skills developed also affect the educational success of children positively and emphasized the importance of multifaceted and diverse activities, as supporting development in any area will also affect another area. In this context, the Summer Festival event, which is a holistic program that includes play and movement elements, ended after a pleasant lunch.
