TASTES OF DIFFERENT CULTURES MEET ON THE SAME TABLE

The cuisines of 11 different cultures met at a single table. The participants of the “Immigrated Tastes” competition held in cooperation with the World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD), Pendik Municipality and Okan University.

The jury of the competition included names such as Arif Akdaş, Bilge Cingü, Elif Edes, İlkay Gök, Maria Ekmekçioğlu, Tahir Tekin Öztan, as well as WALD Chairman of the Board Mehmet Duman.

In the "Immigrated Tastes" competition held on 4 December 2021 at the Okan University Culinary Arts Center, various dishes and desserts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Afghanistan, Algeria, Palestine, Syria, Georgia, Egypt, Iraq, Tajikistan, Mauritania and Turkey were served in 3 different categories. In total 37 contestants presented their plates to introduce their cuisine by the tastes they preapered with a great labor.

WALD Chairman of the Board, Mehmet Duman emphasized the uniting power of food and its support to living together in his speech. Afterward, the members of the jury were invited to the stage and they gave honorable mention awards and small gifts to all participants. Also, a knife set was given to the winners by the jury members.
