Roundtable meeting in Avcılar

In partnership with the World Academy of Local Government and Democracy (WALD) and Avcılar Municipality, a meeting was held at Avcılar Municipality Women's Counseling Center on 18 June 2021. WALD representatives, Avcılar Municipality Women and Family Services Manager Nuran Dağdelen, Avcılar Municipality Migration Unit Manager Hasan Hüseyin Gedik, Women's Counseling Center Representatives, Equality Unit Representative, Avcılar City Council Representatives, and 7 refugee women participated in the event.

At the meeting, activities to be implemented to increase social cohesion and contact between refugees and local people were discussed. In order to support social peace and harmony in social life, projects to increase the visibility of refugees in local governments and to support refugee women's access to livelihoods were highlighted. WALD Team Leader İlayda İrem Sanağ said that refugees' having a say in local governments and city councils will increase social cohesion.

At the end of the meeting, Avcılar City Council Executive Board member Şükriye Kaplan said that and the President of the City Council could start working by convening the executive committee next week.
