Protection Mainstreaming…

Protection needs to be prioritized for individuals with special needs and concern in humanitarian sector programming. In this regard WALD priorities to protection mainstreaming within the framework of a rights-based approach in all the projects we carry out. In this context, World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD) participated in the training on “Protection Mainstreaming” held in Şanlıurfa between 17-19 October 2022. The training program organized by WeltHungerHilfe (WHH) included organizations operating in the field of protection, social cohesion and humanitarian aid.

In the three-day training program; international protection, temporary protection, protection in humanitarian aid, protection requirements and risk analysis, secure communication in protection activities, protection mainstreaming and accountability to vulnerable communities, integrating gender-based violence (GBV) interventions into humanitarian action, reducing GBV risk, GBV concepts, disability concepts and the problems faced by individuals with disabilities are discussed in detail. 

WeltHungerHilfe (WHH), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM)-UN Migration Agency team made presentations on the above-mentioned topics. In addition, group activities and applications were made to the participants about the information described with case analysis method so that it's not theoretical. At the end of the training, the participants also contributed to the program with the problems they encountered in the field and the solutions they presented.
