Istanbul Security Forum

The "Istanbul Security Forum" was held on 02-03 May 2023 under the coordination of the T.R. Presidency's Directorate of Communications. Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun and Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu made the opening speeches of the Forum, where along with WALD representatives, policy makers, academics and representatives of international institutions and organizations from Turkey and many different countries.

In the forum, where regional and global security threats and solution proposals were discussed from a different perspective, Terrorism, international migration and cyber security issues were evaluated in the light of developments that changed and transformed the world balance of power.

Also in the forum; "The War in Ukraine: The Return of Geopolitics and the Reconstruction of Regional Security", "Reconstruction of the Transatlantic Security Architecture; Information Security: Mesinformation, Disinformation and Propaganda", "The Role of the Organization of Turkish States (TDT) in the Regional Security of Central Asia", "Balance of Power in Relations between the USA, Russia and China; Turkey as a Balancing Power in an Age of Unrest", "Challenges in Governance of Global Security: Nuclear Proliferation, Technology, Energy and Environment", "The Changing Nature of War and the Defense Industry", "Middle East Sharp Challenges and a New Perspective on the Balkans" were discussed in nine different sessions. 

In addition to security issues during the two-day program; climate change and environmental problems, natural disasters, epidemics, economic crises, cyber threats brought by digitalization and developing technology, information security and security threats created by artificial intelligence-based systems were discussed and solutions were expressed.
