GOLDEN GLOBAL AWARD FOR SUPPORTING WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS

As the World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD), we are developing our collaborations to make cities and settlements inclusive, safe and sustainable. We continue to take the necessary steps to reveal the transformative impact of urbanization on development and to embrace global change by city administrators from the bottom up.

In this context, the “Innovative Entrepreneur Women's Support Project”, implemented in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and Gaziosmanpaşa Municipality, gave women the opportunity to develop themselves and discover their productive identities. Educators who are experts in their fields gave hands-on training to refugees and local women in the kitchen and sewing workshops. In this context, trainees; produced organic jam, noodles, and washable design fabric masks. The participants not only created a market for themselves by selling the products they produced but also experienced the happiness of contributing to their family budgets.

The "Design Fabric Mask" work, produced by the participants and in which Turkish lace, traditional handicraft embroidery, and natural stones are used in the front face decorations of the masks, was awarded the Golden Worlds Awards, one of the most prestigious awards in the world, organized by the International Public Relations Association (IPRA). The "Design Fabric Mask" work, which is an output of the realized project framework, won the Golden Globe Award.
