Global Task Force Meeting Convened

‘'The International Forum on Local Solutions to Migration and Displacement'’ was held on 26 and jath of November 2019 in Gaziantep, Turkey. In the forum, “2019 Gaziantep Declaration” was signed to establish “Global Task Force on Migration” (GTFM), which is a task force participation program aiming to strengthen local governance approach and share experience with new shareholders.

Coordinated by the partners organizing the program, GTFM meeting was held on 23rd of October 2020 on Zoom with the participation of the UN Migration Agency (IOM), the United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the Union of Municipalities of Turkey (UMT) and WALD representatives.

All criticism and remarks about the GTFM meeting, first phase of which was completed on October 30, 2020, were evaluated throughout the program. Additionally, all shareholders exchanged ideas about topics to be covered in the second GTFM meeting, which will start in January 2021. In the meeting, it has been decided to prepare a feedback survey by shareholders, and the topic of next meeting will be defined according to the results of this survey.
