Entrepreneur Women in Workshops!
As WALD, we believe that women should be equipped with the required knowledge and skills for their inclusion in economic life in order to strengthen their social and economic positions, and they should actively take part in economic development. We continue to support women through our projects.
In this regard, we have launched workshops on Supporting Entrepreneur Women Project in order to empower women in social sphere, ensure them to live humanely, enable them to attain positions they deserve in education, science, politics, economy, etc. and help them add value to the field studies.
Within the scope of project conducted in cooperation with United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and Sultangazi Municipality, we plan to participate women in production through kitchen and sewing workshops and to put their products up for sale on digital markets and local sales points as created by local governments.
Applications were submitted online between 5-15 October, 2020, and interviews were held face-to-face between 20-21 October 2020 in the Karanfil Hall of Sultangazi Municipality in accordance with social distance rules. As a result of interview, 15 refugee women were entitled to receive the training.
The first technical training for Kitchen Workshop was held in Sultangazi Municipality 50. Yıl Kitchen Workshop on November 13, 2020, whereas the trainings for Sewing Workshop are planned to start in the first week of December. During the technical training for Kitchen Workshop that was held as per social distancing rules, women learn how to cook pasta, noodles, pickles and jams well.
Participants who aim to contribute to the family economy through this project have expressed that they are very excited about learning and acquiring knowledge and skills, and very happy to gain their economic freedom.
