Empowering Girls: Fostering Self-Confidence and Leadership Skills

The World Academy for Local Government and Democracy Foundation (WALD) Sultangazi Urban Harmonization Unit orchestrated a "Self-Confidence and Leadership Development" event aimed at high school girls in commemoration of International Girls' Day on Oct. 11. The event served to empower young individuals, equipping them with the tools to stride confidently into their futures, fostering self-assurance, and cultivating leadership qualities essential for their upcoming ventures in academia and professional spheres.

Throughout the program, an array of pertinent topics were meticulously discussed. These included delineating the essence of self-confidence, practical exercises and techniques to fortify individual confidence, insights into the ethos of leadership, fundamental leadership traits, and the cultivation of robust teamwork and communication abilities. The session's moderator highlighted that success in life isn’t solely rooted in academic knowledge but significantly intertwined with self-confidence and leadership skills, underlining inspirational examples for the attending youths.

Particular emphasis was placed on nurturing self-confidence, focusing on pivotal steps such as self-awareness, goal setting, positive thinking, and the significance of respecting others in the journey towards bolstering self-assurance. An innovative tool called the "Self-Confidence Diary" was introduced, serving as an exemplar for this purpose.

The discussion elucidated leadership as encompassing responsibility, teamwork, adept listening, and setting exemplary conduct. It was underscored that honing leadership skills not only bestows the power to make a positive impact but also enables the youth to serve as guiding forces in their communities.
