Case Workers Meeting

As WALD we participated in the Case Workers Meeting held on 25 July 2023 as part of the project we carried out in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and local governments. At the meeting attended by UNHCR' partners in Istanbul; information updates on the field were shared on the topics of education, economic empowerment, health, basic needs and the situation of earthquake victims.

At the meeting, general evaluations of the refugees who came from the region after the earthquake were made. Earthquake victims; Administrative detention in Istanbul, extended road permits, access to education for school-age children, and accompanying refugees who lost their families were brought up in detail. In addition, information was shared about the advocacy activities carried out at the level of UNHCR, Directorate of Migration Management and Provincial Directorate of Migration Management regarding the situation of earthquake victims.

At the end of the program, the participants shared their observations and suggestions from the field and expressed their suggestions for solutions in disaster awareness and dissemination efforts. In addition, it was stated that more efforts should be made to solve the problems experienced in accessing services in different parts of Istanbul.
