An Equal World For All Women

As the World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD), we support women to express themselves in all areas of society by standing against all kinds of violence against women. In this direction, within the scope of the "Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women", a seminar with wide participation was held on 30 November 2022 with the cooperation of WALD and Ümraniye Social Services Directorate (SSD) with our psychologists and lawyers on "women's rights and combating violence" with the aim of informing the public. Along with this program, in the districts of Sultangazi, Kağıthane and Sancaktepe, where we serve in the field of social protection, the “Combating Violence Against Women” program was held online with the participation of local people, refugee and immigrant women's groups.

During the seminars and online events held on Violence Against Women, it highlighted that violence against women, which is encountered at every stage of social life, is an important public health problem due to the serious damage to the physical and moral integrity of women, and constitutes an obstacle to women's active participation in social and business life. It was emphasized that the works carried out within this framework are included in the process with the prevention, protection, punishment, socio-cultural, educational and political dimensions.

In the program, all participants were also informed about the Law 6284 on the Protection of Family and Prevention of Violence Against Women and the Violence Prevention and Monitoring Center (ŞÖNİM), the Women's Support Practice (KADES), 112 Emergency Call Center, 183 Ministry of Family and Social Services and 155 Police Assistance and the application procedure to the District Governor's Office, the Governor's Office, the Prosecutor's Office and the Family Court.
