3RP 2023-2025 Protection Sector Consultations…
This year's leg of the 3RP Protection Sector Consultations which are regularly organized under the leadership of UNHCR Türkiye Inter-Agency Coordination Unit, was held in Ankara on October 5-6, 2022.
The Regional Refugee and Resilience Plan (3RP) is a regional plan that responds to the needs of refugees and their host communities with humanitarian and resilience-based interventions in an inclusive approach. The 3RP determines the strategic direction of the humanitarian and development partners' support to the response led by the Government of Türkiye. Representatives of non-governmental organizations and international organizations from various regions of Türkiye participated in the meeting, which was held with the aim of determining the consultation strategies for the period of 2023-2025 in the light of the problems encountered by the partner organizations in the field.
The meeting was opened and moderated by UNHCR Interagency Coordination Protection Sector Coordinator Lara ÖZÜGERGİN. The current situation has been evaluated within the scope of current 3RP Protection strategies; accordingly, there is an increase in social tension due to the fact that Türkiye is the country hosting the highest number of refugees, local governments and public institutions have a very important place in the interventions for people with special needs, and the increase in the refugee population, especially in urban areas, leads to an increase in the demand for services and insufficient capacity.
At the meeting, the preliminary results of the "Inter-Agency Protection Needs Assessment 6th Round" study, in which WALD was among the contributing institutions, were evaluated. On the second day, which continued with the protection discussions, presentations focused on child protection and gender-based violence (GBV) were made and case studies were exemplified. After two days of intense evaluations, the 3RP Protection Sector Consultations meeting attended by WALD Academy Director Hülya Alper and Reporting Specialist Sena Saylam ended with sector logframe discussions on indicators, due to the importance of 3RP reporting.
