WE ARE TOGETHER WITH OUR MUKHTARS IN UMRANİYE…

As WALD, within the scope of our Social Protection Project, which we carry out in cooperation with with UNHCR and Ümraniye Municipality, Ümraniye Municipality Coordination Meeting with Mukhtars Meeting was held with the participation of Ümraniye District Mukhtars on 5 May 2022.

The purpose of the meeting, in which the mukhtar and municipality personnel participated, was informing the public personnel in the district borders about the rights and responsibilities of refugees, as well as sharing information about the false facts that are known to be true about refugees within the scope of the Social Protection Project.

Meeting started with information about the reasons for the applications of the beneficiaries who applied to the WALD Ümraniye Social Protection Desk, the common guidances, and the rights and obligations of foreigners in Turkey. Sensitive issues such as child labor and child marriage, disability, depression, schooling of children, Socioeconomic Support Assistance (SED) referral, anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder were evaluated among refugee population and the services provided at the Social Protection Desk were detailed.

In the meeting, which continued with the presentation of “False Facts About Refugees”, the problems faced by the mukhtars in the region and their solution suggestions were discussed, and the importance of conducting information and awareness activities especially in the neighborhood was emphasized. At the end of the meeting, the mukhtars stated that the information shared is very valuable in order to ensure inter-institutional coordination and better and faster communication and that they are ready for any kind of cooperation in this regard.
