WALD LAUNCHES 2022 INTERNATIONAL E-PARLIAMENT YOUTH SESSIONS
As World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD), we support the integration of today's technologies into democratic fields, and especially the participation of young people in platforms created in these areas. In this context, through the "E-Parliament" online platform established within the WALD Young Leaders Academy, university students from Turkey and different countries come together with policy makers and leaders to discuss various issues.
In the first E-Parliamentary session held on 12 November 2021 hosted by Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality; the topics of “Green Future and Green Deal” were discussed with the participation of Deputy Chairman of the T.R. Presidency Local Government Policies Board Prof. Dr. Şükrü Karatepe, UN Turkey Deputy Resident Coordinator Alvaro Rodriguez, EU Delegation to Turkey EU Policies Program Manager Tsvetana Stoycheva, Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Yücel Yılmaz, Mayor of Bağcılar Lokman Çağırıcı, Mayor of Beykoz Murat Aydın and Mayor of Gölcük Ali Yıldırım Sezer.
The second session of the e-Parliament will be held in cooperation with WALD and United Nations Turkey hosted by Beykoz Municipality and Turkish-German University on 11 May 2022. In this session; Youth from Turkey, USA, Belgium and the UK aiming to be the leaders of the future will open the Sustainable Development Goals "SDG 11- Sustainable Cities and Communities" for discussion on a global scale.
