VISIT TO THE MAYOR OF BAĞCILAR

The WALD Chairman of Executive Board, Mehmet Duman, paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Bağcılar Municipality and also a Member of the Board of Trustees of WALD, Lokman Çağırıcı, on January 11, 2022.

Evaluating “Social Protection Project” and “European Youth Alliance for a Green Future (Green Deal)” which are carried out in cooperation with Bağcılar Municipality, the duo exchanged ideas on the planned activities by Bağcılar Municipality and WALD in 2022.

Drawing attention to the fact that Bağcılar is one of the districts hosting the highest number of refugees, Lokman Çağırıcı stated that they carry out many studies and projects in order to ensure social cohesion and the peaceful coexistence of different cultures, which they consider extremely important. He added that they had a talk with WALD on new projects that will guide local governments.

The WALD Chairman of Executive Board, Mehmet Duman said that the Bağcılar district is at a very important point in terms of both geographical location and industrialization of Istanbul. He also emphasized the importance of creating opportunities in terms of employment. In this framework, the works to be carried out within the scope of the “New Urban Economy Model” were highlighted.
