Visit to Sultangazi District Governor

Mehmet Duman, WALD Chairman of the Executive Board, and Hülya Alper, WALD Academy Director visited Sultangazi Uğur Kalkar, District Governor in his office. Sharing about the activities and services provided at the WALD Social Protection Desks, Duman briefed Kalkar on the Social Protection Project carried out with UNHCR. Duman said that "Within the scope of the project carried out in 11 districts in Istanbul between 2017-2020, we have continued our cooperation with Avcılar, Bağcılar, Beylikdüzü, Gaziosmanpaşa, Kağıthane, Küçükçekmece, Pendik, Sancaktepe, Sultangazi, Maltepe, Şişli, and Ümraniye Municipalities and served more than 100,000 refugees”. In the meeting, the Innovative Entrepreneur Women Support Project, conducted in cooperation with Sultangazi Municipality, UNHCR, and WALD, was also discussed. At the meeting, the importance of working together with the central government and local governments was emphasized and possible cooperations were evaluated.
