Visit from WALD to Okan University
We pay a particular importance to conduct our foundation work more inclusively and sustainably. For this reason, we always look for new project opportutinities in order to develop our cooperation with universities. In this context, WALD Academy Director Hülya Alper and Project Coordinator Dr. Nuriye Niğdelioğlu Happani visited Asst. Prof. İlkay Gök, Head of Gastronomy Department at Istanbul Okan University.
During the visit, joint studies between Istanbul Okan University and WALD were evaluated in the fields of Gastronomy, Entrepreneurship, Climate Change, Environment, Research, International Relations, Culture-Art and Mentor-Mentee.
In this context, as the first step of cooperation, it is planned to organize the "Taste Map of Immigration", which was realized previouslu with Pendik Municipality within the scope of the Social Protection Project. This programme is originially carried out every year in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and this year, it will be hosted by Istanbul Okan University Gastronomy Department in the scope of cooperation planning. By this event, it is aimed to contribute to a sustainable social life where common life elements and cultural richness are shared in the healthiest way. The event will feature the traditional tastes of people from different cultures living in Pendik district.
