Institutional Capacity Building Workshop

As WALD, the “Cooperation with Local Governments in Social Protection and Access to the Registered Economy Project” consultation meeting, which we have been carrying out in cooperation with UNCHR since 2017, was held in Abant with the participation of all personnel.

At the Social Protection Project evaluation session, UNCHR Senior Protection Officer Mohammadreza LAKZADEH discussed basic issues such as motivation to work with refugees, case management, field planning, child and women protection. Emphasizing the importance of cooperation at the global level, he detailed his reasons for working on the refugee issue. Based on UNHCR's case management definition, interactive simulations were carried out on the registration of refugees to protection desks, referral to institutions and organizations in the field of protection, psychosocial support, in-kind and cash assistance, legal consultancy and other follow-up processes, emphasizing the size and scope of the work.

Mohammadreza LAKZADEH made a detailed presentation on case management and case planning, which were the focus of the meeting. He made strategic recommendations on how refugee participation can be evaluated at the planning stage, emphasizing the review processes required for proper planning. In the program, project titles for 2024 were discussed and information was shared about the services and practices to be provided at the Social Protection Desk to be opened in Kocaeli/Gebze. Along with these topics, information was also given about the studies to be carried out in the field of "women's protection and child protection" that will be started in Istanbul as of 2024, work flow plans and details of the projects to be carried out in this context with the Ministry of Family and Social Services.
