FOUNDATION AND PEOPLE

The interview program on "Foundation and People", which we organized as WALD as part of the Foundations Week, was held on May 10, 2022 at the World Academy for Local Government and Democracy Foundation (WALD) Headquarters in Sultanahmet.

In the program, WALD Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. Erman Bülent TUNCER was the speaker. WALD Board of Trustees, UN Turkey Resident Coordinator Alvaro ROGRIGUEZ, Sancaktepe Mayor Atty. Şeyma DÖĞÜCÜ, General Directorate of Foundations Representatives, Union Foundation Managers and Local Administration representatives participated as listeners.

WALD Chairman of the Board Mehmet DUMAN greeted the guests at the opening of the program and he mentioned the importance of foundation civilization in his speech. “Features that bind us together, such as love, compassion, solidarity and brotherhood, have been strengthened by the understanding of foundation and made us one and together. Our Foundation, which was established in 1993 for these purposes, continues its activities by strengthening it day by day in cooperation with international organizations and local governments, not only in Turkey but also in the world. He finished his words by saying “Foundations, which were built to strengthen the spirit of cooperation and solidarity in social relations and to increase social capital, have been and will continue to be one of the indispensable social institutions of daily life from past to present”. 

Prof. Dr. Erman Bülent TUNCER, Vice Chairman of WALD Board of Trustees, emphasized the importance of foundations in his interview, he said that foundations are for civilizations, expressing that foundations have been extremely effective in social life for centuries and offer solutions in areas needed by humanity. In the program where participation and interest is very intense; TUNCER mentioned that the donated goods are sacred and should not be wasted in any way, he concluded his interview with the guests in an interactive environment.
