For the Future… Now!

We humans have a great responsibility to protect and improve the environment for present and future generations. The careful and attentive use of natural resources is extremely important for all of us.

With this vision and mission, as the World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD) Istanbul Academy; We are advancing our activities with the awareness of the necessity of taking measures in our individual and social lives for a healthy future considering that our world is approaching an irreversible critical threshold for its natural resources. Therefore, we develop projects in order to protect both the environment and the rights of future generations within the framework of Sustainable Development Goals (SGD) in order to raise social awareness in this direction. 

In this regard, an environmental tour with the theme "If we protect nature, nature protects us" was organized in Sultangazi City Forest with the participation of Turkish and foreign children living in the district, under the coordination of WALD Sultangazi Social Protection Desk. In this activity, children discussed the importance of the environment including a physical, social, economic and cultural sphere in which humans and other living things maintain their relationships and interact with each other throughout their lives, for our future.

In the program, which aims to instill awareness of the environment and nature protection in children, and to raise awareness in terms of the contribution and importance of nature to human life; a tree collage was made by collecting the garbage around with the slogan “Let's keep our environment clean” after the forest walk with the children. After the pleasant day; the children ended the activity with the message that we should protect our habitat, nature, before the last river dries up, the last tree disappears, and the last fish die.
