Metin KARAKAŞ

Metin Karakaş completed his undergraduate studies at the Department of Architecture of the Faculty of Architecture at Trakya University in 1992. Upon the completion of his university education, he worked at a private company for 1.5 years as a "Technical Manager", after which he established his own family-owned enterprise. He was elected a member of the Silivri District Council in the local elections of 1999, and after being re-elected as a member of the Silivri District Council in the local elections of 2004, he served as Deputy Mayor of Silivri Municipality and Deputy Chairman of the Zoning Committee of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in the 2004-2009 term.  He was re-elected as a member to the IMM City Council and Silivri Municipality District Council in the local elections of 2009. He served in the Silivri Municipality District Council for an uninterrupted period of 15 years, and in IMM City Council for 2 terms. Having worked in the Financial Management Committee of the United Cities and Local Governments Middle East West Asia (UCLG-MEWA), Metin Karakaş has been a member of the Board of Trustees of World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD) since 2018.
